so i got home from class today like everyday went to go turn on the playstation and guess what? a the blinking yellow light... ugh. its gonna be hard for me to replace it right now because im a college student and my job just about enough to pay for it and a few other things once in while. so i apologize because i know this is gonna cause more problems but there really isnt anything i can do at this time.

damn dude...you and dodger both got em. i had one last year, went through a 2 month battle of sony sending me DOA refurbs that worked for about an hour before they either died, started smoking (no gpu compound), or just stopped reading discs after a couple days.

the cheapest solution is to send it into sony for repair (100.00) which is free under warranty OR you can watch a youtube tutorial on taking the ps3 apart and resealing the gpu with a heat source...this is usually the problem, after so much use the compound used to seal the gpu eventually deteriorates since sony half asses everything they make.

in the meantime i rented a ps3 from rent-a-center for 20 a week. i know its not easy being in college and working, i did it all through college as well since i had to pay my own way...but there are cheaper fixes if your even slightly mechanically inclined.

yea you guys should just boot me. i haven't decided on what to do yet. it had also never happened to me before. honestly i hope i can get a new one or get it refurbished but i find it funny because my grades have been slipping lately and ive been spending too much time on it. maybe this is a chance for me to focus on school but man it sucks.

Yeah Nick, i strongly suggest handling your yellow light problem in the same way JMO did. LMAO! *I'm all like...TURN ON YELLOW LIGHT!!!! TURN ON YELLOW LIGHT!!!!* That would be f&cking awesome!! Don't think my girlfriend would appreciate it too much though...or my kids. LOL!.

please don't put the ps3 in the oven...thats like giving it a bath cause its dusty.

the only reason why the oven might have worked, its cause the solder on the GPU needs reheated (as i described above)...so the logical solution is taking it apart and using a heat gun.

or, you could just bake it in the oven lol.

ugh...just don't put it in the oven unless you don't care about destroying it. odds are you're going to melt the lens and then its REALLY worthless. look, fixing the problem really isn't that hard.

you need a screwdrivers, some cpu compounds (about 2.00 at staples) and a heatgun...or an oven important (plz read) (76)

i have a youtube video of the step by step instructions to fix it...i'll be honest though it only worked for about 5 months before it needed fixed again...but if your hard up for cash its a good temp fix.

lmao, image the news article...student burns down school by leaving his sony playstation in the oven.

its all child pleases fault!! lol.

im sure it would work...but it'd have to be like, JUST the perfect temperature for JUST the right amount of time...its risky but since its moreless junk now anyways might as well.

The towel trick worked on my sisters Xbox for a couple days. For Xbox, they are so easy to fix. Ps3, is more difficult but still possible with a glue gun and current instructions. I took my backwards compatible first-generation PS3 apart and accidentally broke the clamp on the mother board. Wasnt that big of a deal. clear scotch tape held it in place lol I still couldnt diagnose what is wrong with mine. lol Mine was a different case. Its in my closet hanging out. Probably figure out how to fix it someday and sell it since its the first gen of the new gen products.
