I am delighted to say that our Hengistbury Head Conservation Placement scheme has again been recognised by the students that we have hosted. For the 2021/22 awards, BCP Council have been placed somewhere in a table of 60 Top Medium-sized Undergraduate Schemes, alongside large organisations such as Boots, DHL and Samsung. We're looking forward to seeing how we fared in final placings on 25th February at the National Undergraduate Employability AwardsRateMyPlacement BCP Council #careers #placement #achievement

Going through the moth trap every morning is something I miss from my former career as a Ranger. Out of all regular monitoring, moths seemed by far the most accessible as they would largely sit peacefully while you identify them (assuming it's not hot in the morning sun!). It's really heartening to see interest in them increasing.

🌿Event Success: Online Careers Meet and Greet in the Ecology Sector🌿I'm thrilled that yesterday's inaugural Career Connect event between students and employers in the ecology sector was successful! The enthusiasm and engagement from both the students and the panelists made this event truly memorable.A heartfelt thank you to our incredible panelists who shared their valuable insights and inspiring stories. Here are a couple of standout quotes:"The sector is constantly changing and I am looking for people who have the curiosity to grow with it; be creative and innovative" Rebecca Finbow"Everything I know I learnt from someone, networking is so important" Ashleigh Kitchiner"See whatever you are doing as having value, even it isn't your dream job, it will likely provide you with transferable skills" a sentiment shared by Helen Robertson and Paul HawkinsA huge thank you to all of our panelists, including Hannah McBlain, Gillie Molland, Rick Stafford, Ajay Tegala, Jason Winslow, Jennifer Deane and Edward Nicholson for generously supporting the event and to Mark Nason for tech support! And to the students who participated and contributed to this event's success. Together, we are fostering the next generation of ecologists who will lead the way in sustainability and conservation. This was a pilot event with a limited invitation, similar future events will be open to all aspiring ecologists. Here's to many more successful events and a brighter future for our planet! 🌍✨
