She was a native of Provencal and was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Fred Ballard and John Ballard, both of Provencal; three daughters, Lou Ford of Buras, Shirley Reams of Natchitoches and Bertha Bynog of Provencal; 38 grandchildren and 25 great-granchildren. Mrs. Fontaine, 91, of Alexandria died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a former resident of St. Martinville.

Mrs. Fontaine was a member of Norte Dome Catholic Church of St. Martinville, the St. Joseph Society and the Altar Society. Survivors include one daughter, Juanita F.

Lyons said Mrs. Voorhies' husband, Jack, and his son, Jack were asleep in a bedroom at the rear of the residence.

The father and son escaped the fire. Voorhies was unable to reach his wife who was sleeping in a front bedroom. The fire was under control within three minutes of firefighters' arrival and caused little damage, according to Erwin. The body was sent to Shreveport for an autopsy. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office and the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office.

Services for Dana Carol Voorhies will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hixson Pineville with the Revs. Wayne Kite and Don Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
