She has a winsome personality, connections for days, and a clear vision for her future. She lights up every room she enters, and her short-lived romantic relationship with Owen is a highlight of Season 1.
So who is Amelia Salazar onThe Recruit? And what do we know about Kaylah Zander, the actor who plays her? We’ll break Zander and her character down below, but be aware spoilers forThe Recruit Season 1 lie ahead.
Who Is Amelia Salazar on The Recruit?
Amelia Salazar is an FBI force to be reckoned with. She’s great at her desk job, but working for the agency isn’t her dream career. That’s why she’s not afraid to have some fun on the clock. We first meet Amelia when Owen goes to her for advice per Violet’s recommendation. Before Owen starts opening up to Amelia about his case, she tells him they need to lay some ground rules and she quickly gets down to business. “I need romance. Not a lot. I don’t have time for anything serious. But you are gonna have to put in some effort if we start dating,” she says. Owen learns that Violet, who’s hell bent on messing with him, told Amelia he was interested in her. And once Owen learns Amelia is only planning on helping him if he gives her what she wants, he gets onboard and agrees to “dinner and a movie every once in a while.” Amelia asks him out to dinner later that week and starts helping him navigate Max’s case.
When Owen goes to pick Amelia up for their date she takes him upstairs to a closet full of suits and gives him a fancy one to change into. As Owen is looking for the bathroom, he stumbles upon a full newsroom setup in Amelia’s house, so she reveals that in three years she wants to be a talking head on cable news. She said she only joined the CIA because national security credentials get her paid more than being a legal analyst, but she practices anchoring every night. Owen admires her passion, and after the two start dating and hooking up, he even picks her brain about his latest graymail drama while roleplaying Anderson Cooper.
Though Amelia and Owen’s romance is short-lived, she continues to play a crucial role in his work at the CIA. She offers assistance whenever she can and even reaches out to Hannah to let her know Owen is safe in later episodes. We stan Amelia and hope to see much more of her in a potential Season 2.
