CCAL FIRE2+ weeks agoAgencyOn March 31, 2024, and April 8, 2024, the California State University, San Jose (SJSU) Police and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) - Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Arson and Bomb Unit responded to fires in the Martin Luther King Jr. Library on the SJSU campus. The investigation revealed the fire causes were arson, on State of California property, and occupied by students at the time of the arson fires. The joint law enforcement investigation was a collaboration between SJSU Police and the CAL FIRE – OSFM Arson and Bomb Unit. All personnel involved worked tirelessly to canvass the area, review security camera footage, cultivate leads, and ultimately identify the suspect. The suspect was identified as SJSU sophom*ore student Amogh Upadhya. Amogh Upadhya was arrested and charged with four (4) counts of Arson and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. Upadhya is being held on $400,000.00 bail until a court hearing on April 12, 2024. SSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY2+ weeks agoAgencyBetween March 9 and March 15, investigators with the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division and multiple other agencies continued the targeted crime suppression efforts of Operation Consequences. During the one-week period, which included a focused operation in Fontana and the surrounding county areas on March 15, fifteen search warrants were served in Lytle Creek, Fontana, San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Bloomington, San Jacinto and Oro Grande. As a result, investigators contacted gang members and persons prohibited from possessing firearms. Investigators made 32 felony arrests and seized 56 firearms, which included 18 ghost guns and over 38 pounds of narcotics.695Like189

During the one-week period, which included a focused operation on April 26 in San Bernardino and surrounding county areas, 12 search warrants were served in Hesperia, San Bernardino, Victorville, Fontana, Adelanto and Colton. During those contacts, investigators contacted gang members and persons prohibited from possessing firearms. Over 25 pounds of suspected methamphetamine was recovered, and 32 firearms, which included two ghost guns, were seized. Investigators made 34 felony arrests. During those contacts, investigators contacted gang members and persons prohibited from possessing firearms. As a result, investigators seized approximately three pounds of illegal narcotics and six firearms, including two ghost guns. A total of seven felony arrests were made. Operation Consequences will take place over the next several months to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing and trafficking firearms.509Like190
