IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix: How to watch on USA, Peaco*ck, start times, schedules, streaming (2024)

Even amidst a wonderful finish to the 108th Indy 500, there’s no rest for the weary of the NTT IndyCar Series.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix continues a grueling stretch of race weekend activity that started in mid-April at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and won’t end until June 9 at Road America.

IndyCar teams will have been grinding at the racetrack in seven out of eight weeks that have featured road courses, street courses and an oval that marks the biggest race of the season.

Off a fifth place in the 108th Indy 500, IndyCar points leader Alex Palou enters the Chevy GP as the defending race winner. The Chip Ganassi Racing star won from the pole last year in the debut of the new nine-turn, 1.7-mile downtown layout that uses the GM Renaissance Center as an anchor.

Two-time defending Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden has been strong on street courses this year (he’d have two top fives if not for his St. Pete disqualification), and Brickyard runner-up Pato O’Ward could use a Motown turnaround after crashing out of last year’s race early.

There will be some unexpected faces in the starting lineup.

Helio Castroneves was a surprise replacement for Tom Blomqvist, who will miss the next two races after a mediocre start to his IndyCar career. Tristan Vautier will be making his first series start in nearly seven years and is back with Dale Coyne Racing (he finished a career-best fourth at Detroit Belle Isle with DCR in 2015).

Theo Pourchaire (Arrow McLaren No. 6) and Jack Harvey (DCR No. 18) also are back on the entry list.
