As a Biola employee, interns are granted: 23 paid holidays (including half-day bonus days) = 184 hours; 5 vacation days = 40 hours; 5 sick days = 40 hours; and 1 personal day = 8 hours. Potential hours in the full training year: 51 weeks x 40 hours = 2040. Given an internship is meant to be a year of fulltime professional work, we count holidays, sick time, professional development, and vacation as part of the overall hours accrued in the training year, just as most professional positions do, thus providing a 12-month, 2000 hour internship. If an intern were to take all available time off they would accrue 1768 hours of actual time at the office. California law requires 1500 hours of actual supervised experience, not counting holidays, vacation, etc., so the BCC internship provides ample experience for California licensure. Of the total hours, a minimum of 25% (500 of 2000 or 442 of 1768) must be in direct service activity. Interns should be aware that different states may count licensing hours differently.
